Democracy in Pakistan is always considered an illusion, as Pakistan went through different ups and downs where many political leaders were killed, thrown, and arrested unlawfully. A recent example is one of the famous leaders in Pakistan, Imran Khan, who was abducted in jail, and now it has been almost a year since he was still in jail.
Today in Pakistan, the higher supreme court of Pakistan has given reserve seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party of Imran Khan, or the other parties running the government and their alliance. However, it was shocking to see that the majority of judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave orders in favor of PTI and SIC, and that decision is considered to be lawful. The decision was 8/5, meaning that out of 13, 8 judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave a decision where they supported the argument that PTI was a political party. PTI is a political party as well. So PTI has the right to take these seats.
This was a historic moment in Pakistan due to the fact that courts and judges seemed to be under the pressure of military establishments. They were threatened in various ways, but they decided to protect the rights of the people of Pakistan who voted for Imran Khan and his party, the PTI. There were many other situations where political analysis and the common people in Pakistan felt that it would be difficult for judges to give decisions in favor of PTI because, in the past, there were many situations where they gave judgments that should not have been expected, but today they made history by standing with the people of Pakistan, which is a positive sign for the Pakistani democracy.
As Abraham Lincoln said, democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people.
During the last two years, Pakistan has gone through a lot of anarchy and chaos, which many political commentators and analysts have analyzed and believed was created by establishments that tried to control the country in their own way, just like they did in the past, but things were not the same as they were in the past. Due to social media, which is not under their control, most people in Pakistan who belong to the side area know and are aware of what is going on in Pakistan, who is causing this chaos, and why. This is somehow a positive signal for Pakistan’s future because the more common people are aware of the political situation in the country, the better it will be for the betterment of the country.
It is time to change the policy of the current regime and its facilitators, as Pakistan is going through a big crisis that is not just political but also financial. There is no better solution than to respect the choice of common people who truly support and vote for Imran Khan and his party, PTI, and without that, there is no long-lasting solution for Pakistan because this time it would be difficult to ignore the people of Pakistan.
As John F. Kennedy said, the ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.
Let’s hope for a better Pakistan and the actual rise of Pakistani democracy, which is desperately needed, as there is always a way forward for any problem or mistake, and today’s decision from the Supreme Court of Pakistan allows us to put Pakistan on the right track instead of just keeping the same emotions that we have seen in the past two years from the people who have the power to control the country.
People in Pakistan need a better life, and they need to have jobs, education, etc. We cannot ignore the fact that Pakistan is among the top most populated countries in the world, which is why it is crucial to work for the betterment of people; otherwise, we will soon or later see another big crisis in the country that will not be easy to control by anyone.
It is time to rebuild Pakistan with an honest and sincere approach where the interests of the people should be highly prioritized rather than our own. An efficient and sincere political government should be installed in the long run to overcome these challenges with the support of nations.
